What is Non-Emergency Medical Transportation(NEMT)?
NEMT is the transportation of an individual to a non-emergency service. NEMT is not used for emergency transportation services. Members should dial 9-1-1 if an immediate response is needed for emergencies. (www.dmas.virginia.gov)
How to schedule a ride?
Call your insurance at least five business days before your appointment to schedule a trip. If we are your preferred provider, please request Blue Ridge Medical Transport; otherwise, you will get transportation based on who is available at the time of the call. Medicare does not cover non-emergency transportation; some managed medicare plans offer transportation support. Don't hesitate to contact your insurance company to determine the specific services your plan provides.

Helpful information to provide when requesting a quote.
When scheduling a trip or requesting a quote, be expected to share your name, phone number, destination location, and address, what time you would like to be picked up, if you have any stairs or accessibility issues, what your payer source will be and if you have any questions or concerns.
What types of transportation do you provide?
Currently, BRMT offers ambulatory taxi and wheelchair transportation for short distances. Long-distance transportation services will be discussed upon request.
